In the past, I’ve done some pretty interesting challenges on The Positivity Project.

The initial vision for the blog was to treat myself as a guinea pig and work through the exercises assigned in various “self-help” books, and then blog about how their implementation impacted my life. That is what I did in the beginning. My writing ability has improved a lot since I first experimented with “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” My vision has changed a lot too.

What interests me when reading other blogs are stories; raw and honest stories. It’s what I’ve been sharing on my other blog Creative Life, and it’s mostly what I’ve been doing on this blog. Over the last several months, specifically, I’ve been blogging about my breakup, my morning rituals, my confusion around creativity and money, and some of my successes (most recently the job I got working for The Crave Company) and what I attribute to their manifestation… or whatever you want to call it.

Being didactic and giving lists doesn’t really work for me.

Assuming that I know anything for certain makes me feel uncomfortable because, of course, I don’t. I can only make guesses and offer suggestions based on my interpretation of what has occurred in my own life. I cannot account for every variable that could be either helping or hindering me in my progress, but I do know that the person I was when I started this blog is a dramatically different person than the one I am today… and from the person I will be 2 months from now; 2 years from now.

With all of this said, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce a new challenge – a new book that I will be very deliberately working through over the next several months.

The Success Principles by Jack Canfield

20150303_104122_resizedIt’s a great time to start this challenge as Jack has just released the 10th anniversary addition of this book, and is offering a pretty sweet package to anyone who purchases it from his site. I am not an affiliate for this or anything, I just wanted to share:  http://www.thesuccessprinciples.com

So, slightly different from the way I have worked through books in the past (with The Artist’s Way and E-Squared), I have decided to write about my journey working through this book as a story. By the state of my socks, I feel as though I’m past ready to take this challenge on. I read this book for the first time 2 years ago. Now I’m re-reading it with new eyes.

“Life is like a combination lock; your job is to find the right numbers, in the right order, so you can have anything you want.”

Over the next several months, using this book as a template, I will be attempting to find and understand the combination that works for me. Maybe it will work for you as well.

If you’d be interested in following along on this journey – I will be sharing 2-3 related posts a week – subscribe to my newsletter or sign up for my RSS feed to keep up-to-date.

You can also follow me on FacebookTwitter, or Instagram if you want to follow along in more detail.
